Hi & welcome to my blog.

My name is Jenn (short for Jennifer).   I live in sunny Brisbane Queensland Australia.

I am a WAHM of 3 kids (1 boy & 2 gorgeous girls) with a love for all crafts.  I’ve created this blog for me to showcase my finished craft work.  Currently it is mostly knitting posts but I hope to get back into sewing, crocheting, tatting & Japanese braiding.  Plus try many other craft that I haven’t had the chance to try e.g. drawing, beading etc.

From as far back as I can remember, I have always wanted to learn how to knit.  When I was about 10 years old, I asked my mother to teach me how to knit.  She taught me how to crochet instead.  It wasn’t until I was about 12 years old that I taught myself how to knit using a simple book and some help/guidance from my cousin.

A few of my teen years were spent knitting baby booties, baby socks & several baby sweaters that are still WIP (work in progress).  The rest of the time was spent crocheting anything and everything with my mother.  We would search & buy crochet patterns to crochet together.  One of the things we love crocheting together are doilies specifically the Pineapple doily patterns.

I took a break from knitting when I had my DS (first born) as it was difficult to knit with little fingers eager to pull the yarn.  I was still crocheting as little fingers couldn’t do too much damage to a crochet WIP.  It wasn’t until 2010 that I got back into knitting and now I am keen to try my hands at some of the more complex knitting e.g. lace knitting, Möbius etc.

2013: While on a break from knitting (due to hot weather here in Australia), I discovered the joy & love for quilting.  I am still knitting but will now be concentrating on quilting until the next craft catches my attention.

The name Mellycoddle came from combining the name of my youngest DD Melanie with mollycoddle.
