Wow! I can not believe today is the last day of 2013! Where has December gone! I hope everyone had a great Christmas and a Happy New Year :). This month is the sixth and last month of the Easy As ABC QAL. Again I ran out of time to do all the blocks and only managed to do 2 of the blocks that I had already calculated in earlier months i.e. for “E” and “S”. I am making a smaller version of the Easy As ABC QAL quilt i.e. reducing the blocks/quilt by 50% so it will be a cot quilt or a nice lap sized quilt for a toddler :). My 11yo son is turning 12yo in just over 1 week and has requested a Minecraft quilt for his birthday present. I am busily trying to get it done before his birthday and hoping that I can finish the rest of this Easy As ABC QAL blocks and the quilt top by January 13th 2014 :). November have flown by so quickly. I can not believe there is only 2 weeks left of school before my kids go on summer vacation. Lots still to do and so little time! For the fifth month of Easy As ABC QAL, I have calculated and cut out all the letters but only found time to sew 2 of the blocks. I hope to finish the other 3 next week :). Thanks to Alyce at Blossom Heart Quilts for her tip about scaling down, I think I did a better job of scaling down the letters for this month’s letters :). I also caught up with last month’s letter “e”. Here is a pic of all the letters so far :). I am really having fun with this QAL and getting better with my 1/4″ seam allowance. Looking forward to next month’s letters...

The first 5 letters for Easy As ABC QAL is now available on Blossom Heart Quilts. I was so excited I read over everything twice and jumped right into cutting fabrics out. Newbie mistake!!! If you are going to scale a pattern/block, make sure you take into account seam allowances. Luckily I was scaling down by 50% so realised my mistake early and did 1/8″ seam allowance instead of 1/4″ seam allowance. Will be doing it correctly for the rest of the blocks. Despite my newbie mistake, I think my first 4 letters turned out ok :). I forgot to buy aqua fabric so will head back to the fabric shop for the rest of the colours next week. Hopefully I can do “E” before the end of the month. Below are my first 4 blocks for the QAL. My first 4 letters for Easy As ABC QAL I decided to make the coloured borders thicker to make the final block size 7″ x 7 3/4″. I am thinking of giving each block another white border before joining all the blocks up...
